About Dr. Lorena Lewy-Alterbaum, M.D. F.A.C.E.

Dr. Lorena Lewy-Alterbaum is a board certified physician specializing in Internal Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism. Dr. Lewy-Alterbaum is a Fellow of the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology, (FACE), and a Member of the Endocrine Society. Dr. Lewy-Alterbaum was born in El Salvador, she is bilingual, English and Spanish.

Dr. Lewy-Alterbaum completed her medical studies and training at the University of El Salvador, Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.

Dr. Lewy-Alterbaum has served as Chief of Endocrinology at Memorial Regional Hospital and as Director of the Diabetes Center. Dr Lewy-Alterbaum has been an active participant in the American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists, (AACE), she took part in the Consensus Conference on Glycemic Control as well as the AACE Diabetes Consensus Conference on Implementation of Glycemic Goals.

Dr. Lewy-Alterbaum lectures often on a number of Endocrinology topics and is often sought after by her physician peers for her opinion as well as contributions as a participant in panel discussions. Dr. Lewy Alterbaum is very active in community education programs and her opinions and talks are often mentioned in the press as well as broadcasted on radio and television programs.
